ICEBREAKER SPOKANE PONY CLUB SHOW
Interstate Fairgrounds, Spokane, WA
April 26, 2008

It was another chilly April weekend when the Thomas Training Team went to show in Spokane.  It was Jessica Ackerson's first jumping show on her POA pony "Smokey Peach Blossom".  They did very well, and received many ribbons, as high as 3rd place!  A great start for a first time jumper!  Jenny Betchart rode Wildwind's "Rainbow Wrangler" and received many 2nd places, just barely away from 1st.  They took home many ribbons, and placed in nearly every class.  Melinda Thomas competed "WF Splash of Class" in the jumper classes, and had a couple of clean rounds, and great jump off times.  They took a 2nd in the Senior Jumpers 2'6" and a 3rd in the Open Jumpers 2'9".  Melinda also showed "Countessa" in her very first show, and took a couple of 1st places in the hunter hack classes.

STATE 4-H FAIR
Puyallup Fair, Puyallup, WA
September 11-14, 2008

Top competitors Angelique Sebree and Marcella Lane from Ferry County formed a 4-H Performance State Team and made the trek to Puyallup.  After a 6 1/2 hour haul and 325 miles later, the girls checked in at the fair.  The barn superintendent was thrilled to see Ferry County, the county has not been represented at the State Fair for over 10 years!  The girls competed in Showmanship, huntseat, stockseat, bareback and trail.  Angelique received a blue in her premium class, Stockseat.  Marcella received reds and whites in all of her classes.  The girls teamed up with Okanogan County to do herdsmanship, and they received a blue.  The team was attended with Melinda Thomas who hauled for the girls, and acted as coach to help them get into their proper classes, and understand their patterns.  Virgina Lane and Rick Lybarger also acted as chaperones.  The girls are excited to practice for next year!
